I started The Memory Keeper's Daughter. I'm not totally into it yet. You can tell it's written by a woman. It's in third person, but the doctor is so described as a woman would want him to be. And the women characters are strong and clear-eyed and attractive. I don't know how to explain it. They aren't flawless, but all their flaws are attractive flaws. Plus, reading about down's syndrome just makes me think of Sarah Palin, who I'm scared of because I'm realizing she has a better chance than I thought.
