Dispatch from New Zealand

In the late '60s, my mom was a high school exchange student to New Zealand. The family she lived with became like a second family to her, and she's been back a few times to visit. (Her NZ parents came to my parents' wedding in 1983, carrying a homemade fruitcake the entire way!) Two weeks ago, she sent me and my younger sister Hattie.

Here's me, in an avocado picker, on a farm in Katikati. Second career, anyone?

Bubbling mud at Whakarewarewa, Rotorua's Living Thermal Village

Me, at top of One Tree Hill in Auckland.

Flying into Queenstown. (Can you spot any Hobbits?)

More Queenstown, and beautiful Lake Wakatipu.

This post would be incomplete without one of the many pictures of food we took. Here's Hattie, eating a cookie from Cookie Time, which is a store that just sells HOT CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES ALL DAY.

My favorite thing we did in NZ.

Aw, thanks! Miss you, too. There are about 196 other photos in Hattie's albums on FB, too.
